What is LGN?

The Purpose of LGN is to help the institutes accelerate the diffusion of lean knowledge throughout the globe via a growing network of successful affiliates. It is clear that the reasons behind the formation of LGN are that the affiliates want to:

  1. learn from one another and support one another to accelerate the diffusion of lean knowledge;
  2. develop stronger ties and working relations across the globe; and
  3. help one another develop effective value streams that are tailored to meet the needs of each country and marketplace; and in the operation of successful, focused institutes.

The Process is straightforward — LGN’s objective is to develop tools and methods to

  1. make the affiliates aware of the lean knowledge (new lean thinking and learning and affiliate operation’s best practices) that exists throughout the network
  2. promote sharing of existing lean knowledge, and
  3. facilitate collaboration in the development of new lean knowledge among the affiliates and members of each affiliate’s lean community.

Through this process any one affiliate benefits from the knowledge and learning of its 15 partners.

The People of LGN: LGN’s operations are overseen by a Board of Directors, an Executive Committee, and a Management Team.

  • The Board of Directors approves LGN’s mission, budget, policies and general operating plans. Each Affiliate appoints one member to the Board, which currently consists of the 16 members listed beneath this section.
  • The Executive Committee oversees the day-to-day business operations of LGN and consists of a Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Treasurer, and Clerk.
  • The Management Team consists of an Executive Director and an Operations Manager. The management team provides assistance to strengthen and grow the network of affiliates by facilitating collaboration and promoting knowledge generation and information sharing. The Management Team is responsible for the day-to-day operation of LGN including drafting policies and standards, reviewing the application of new affiliates, developing tools for information sharing, providing technical assistance, organizing Board meetings, establishing LGN’s budget, and collecting dues.

Affiliate benefits include:

  • Priority access to some of the world’s leading lean “sensei” such as Jim Womack, Dan Jones, and John Shook.
  • Early registration and discounts at all affiliate summits and workshops.
  • Exclusive access to all affiliate-owned workshops and teaching materials.
  • Discounts and exclusive regional translation rights to all affiliate-owned publications and learning materials.
  • Early access to new publications and workshops being developed.
  • Exclusive access to new research and learning on successful lean transformations around the globe.

  • 50% off all publications, workshops, and events of other network Affiliates

Affiliate expectations include:
