Overview
LGN Southeast Asia is the Lean Global Network (formed by Dr. James P. Womack, founder of Lean Enterprise Institute) Representative for this dynamic and thriving region, consisting of Brunei, Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. With over 600 Million people and GDP of USD 2.4 Trillion, Southeast Asia is one of the most important regions in the world.
Our Purpose: Facilitate the execution, learning and sharing of Lean Thinking in Southeast Asia to increase its social-economic prosperity through dramatic performance transformation.
Our Vision: A trusted, dynamic and collaborating Lean Community of Practice in Southeast Asia.
Our Scope: All business sectors, governments and social services
Our Key Activities:
- Engage in Company Projects and In-house Training to increase the organisational performance of clients.
- Lead a network of Lean Practitioners in Southeast Asia to leverage regional resources and expertise.
- Conduct public workshops, seminars, summits etc. to share best practices in Lean Thinking and Practice in the region.
- Collaborate with trusted partners such as Singapore Institute of Technology and the Singapore Excellence Community to continually engage in projects, sharing forums, networking events and learning activities to enhance local Lean capabilities.
LGN Southeast Asia operates as a non-profit in as much as profits are to be reinvested back in the organisation with no shareholder payout schemes.

Leadership

John S. Hamalian
LGN Southeast Asia Representative.

John Hamalian learned about Lean Thinking in the late 80s while being lucky enough to work under the tutelage of an ex-Toyota manager, his Sensei.  Since then, John was honored to serve as Asia-Pacific Lean Director at both GM and Dell, as part of a 20 year corporate career. With assignments based in the USA, China, Germany, Korea, India and now Singapore, he has thrived in global and culturally-diverse environments, with a strong passion for Social Responsibility and Sustainability. An avid explorer, John has visited over 60 countries (including the entire Far East of Asia) is a published Travel Writer and speaks conversational Mandarin Chinese.
John holds an MBA and a Bachelor Degree in Engineering and is an adjunct lecturer at various universities; a published writer on Lean Management, Leadership, Strategy and Asian culture; and an active speaker at Business Excellence conferences, global corporations and professional institutions. John is an active supporter of several NGOs, including serving as Chairman of the Audit Committee.
