Overview

Lean Management has been used in Botswana at Halfway Toyota Ngami for the last 5 years with substantial success. These successes have been recognised by the Government of Botswana and the community that Halfway Toyota operates in. To provide access to the same assistance Ngami has received it was decided that an academy be registered to formalize training and mentoring within Botswana of the Lean Principles. It is the goal of the Academy to launch an initiative that makes learning available to government departments, university students and private corporations to help drive the development of the country in the form of workshops, training courses and one on one mentoring Helping Botswana to stay stable and democratic because people have good jobs is its value driven purpose.

Sharon Visser grew up in Botswana. She has 5 years of successful Lean implementation leadership at Halfway Toyota Ngami under the coaching of Dave Brunt and Terry O'Donoghue. She presented at Lean Summit UK in 2016 and at Botswana Productivity in February 2017. She created a partnership with the University of Botswana to send engineering students to Halfway Ngami to learn Lean skills in 2018 as the practical part of their training. She is coaching other businesses in Maun on a volunteer basis to improve her own learning applying lean in different industries. She has a passion for what Lean can bring to Botswana and how it can uplift the country and change how people think about work.
